LIFE COACHING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
Life coaching is a relatively
new concept which is becoming increasingly popular in the UK. As certified Life Coaches (Newcastle College), we will
help you become the very best you can be. Coaching is very
different to counselling. Counselling and therapy are about dealing
with your issues from the past. Coaching is all about setting
your goals for the future and is completely forward-moving.
Coaching is a powerful
and intimate relationship between a coach and a willing individual.
You have to want to be coached. It is very important that you
have to want to change your life. Your goals can vary dramatically
- from wanting to stop smoking to clearing your debts and saving
money. Or do you have a broader, more general desire to be
happy and successful? We can help you!
We will clarify the specific
issues you have, you will set your goals and we will help
you to enforce your action plans which will lead to extraordinary,
yet very real, achievable results. Coaching will increase your
self-awareness and encourage you to take responsibility for your
own life and career. Life coaching is not about offering you advice
or giving you suggestions. We point you in the right direction
and hand you the responsibility to take action.
During the coaching process,
you will start to become aware of how you behave and what is important
to you - this could possibly be something you have never challenged
before. Clearly, this will be a very important and exciting
phase in your life... and we'll guide you every step of the way! To find out more about our approach to life coaching, click here.

Psychotherapy is different
to life coaching in that during psychotherapy, I explore your
past and address any psychological problems or issues
you may be experiencing.
Psychotherapy has to
do with the structure of your mind and of the nature of your mental
processes. Most of these derive from, or have been strongly influenced
by the work of, Sigmund Freud.
I am a member of the
Institute of Transactional Analysis which is a full member of
the governing body to which most major phsychotherapy organisations
belong, namely the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Integrative therapies
have developed in which insights of diverse disciplines have been
brought together. Transactional analysis is such an approach drawing
on psychodynamic, humanistic and behaviourist sources.
The term 'counselling'
overlaps with psychotherapy and counsellors and psychotherapists
draw on similar theory and make use of similar techniques.
