1. “For about 15 years I had said I wanted to do the London Marathon. Every April I’d sit and watch it and think one day that will be me crossing the finish line. In 2005 I really decided to go for it.

I was an erratic gym-goer and by the time I had my first consultation with Stephen in September I hadn’t been to the gym for about six months. I found Stephen through an internet search. I liked his profile, he’d done marathon training before and was fairly local to me.

I met him first for a consultation and was instantly at ease with him. I was really nervous telling him my goal but right from the start he made it seem possible. His encouragement and my stubborn “there’s no such word as can’t” attitude were a perfect match.

I’d run cross country at school but 20 or more years on, the effort was incomparable. The sessions were intensive and gruelling but always enjoyable. All aspects of my fitness, diet and lifestyle were covered. Stephen could always answer my questions. His knowledge is phenomenal.

He always made himself available – even on Sundays (his only day off each week) when I had a race. His DTP’s are a brilliant idea – there’s no interruption to the training programme and support even when he’s on holiday. He’s a great motivator and always made me believe I could do the marathon when I had the occasional doubt or setback. The training sessions were well planned and full of variety. I always came away with a sense of achievement.

On the day of the marathon Stephen was there at the start calming me down when I suddenly thought, “Oh my God, I must be mad. What am I doing?!” He was there again at 7, 14, 17 and 26.2 (ie. the end) miles and it was so good getting yet more of his support.

I would recommend him to anyone with fitness issues or a specific goal like me. He has instilled in me a life-long belief in my abilities and an intention to never let my level of fitness gained through him deteriorate. He is one of the most inspirational people I have ever met.”

2. “I approached Stephen because I wanted to lose a few pounds and shape up. I had let myself go since my divorce and I didn't think much of myself - let alone my body! I met Stephen at his office in Forest Gate for my consultation. 4. "I’ve been exercising with Stephen since January 2005. I must admit I was not very committed to my exercise routine at the beginning. I made excuses to miss training sessions and I didn’t believe I could reach the goals I had set for myself. After all, I’d been so disappointed and let down in the past by other Personal Trainers’ promises to “whip me into shape in no time at all ”.

Well, I’m delighted to tell everyone that PPUK is different. I haven’t yet achieved all my goals but I’m well on my way. I’ve lost an amazing 12 lbs in pure fat! But more important I’m healthier and happier than I’ve ever been. My energy levels are up and I feel like a new woman.
